Frequently Asked Questions
What happens after the 30-day trial?
The trial costs €1 and then continues automatically on the Small plan at €5.99 per month. You can cancel in the customer portal at any time before it ends. The trial is available once per email address.
What does "pages per month" mean?
Every page that is read counts once - a three-page contract is three pages. An average document has about three pages (a letter usually one or two, a contract more), so the document figures on the plans are estimates for typical paperwork such as letters, invoices and contracts. In your first two months you get bonus pages so you can scan the whole filing cabinet at once. After that, the monthly quota covers your ongoing mail.
Can I cancel my subscription anytime?
Yes, you can cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings. Your access will continue until the end of your billing period.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
After cancellation, your data is retained for 30 days. If you renew your subscription within this period, you can continue to access your existing data. Otherwise, all data is permanently and irreversibly deleted once the 30 days have passed.
Is PaperHero suitable for small teams?
Yes. From the Medium plan on you can invite more users and decide per folder who may see and edit what. Your plan's pages and AI chats apply to the whole account, not per user. A data processing agreement is ready, and you can enter your VAT ID at checkout. If you need access for a larger team or organization, please contact our support team and we'll find a solution that works for you.
Is my data secure and GDPR compliant?
Yes. All documents are encrypted, and only your password opens the key - even we cannot read along. You can switch on end-to-end encryption on top of that, and then the keys stay only on your devices. Everything is stored in Germany at Hetzner and processed in the EU, and from the Medium plan you decide whether the AI works in Germany - in the Big plan it runs at PaperHero only. In every plan: no company involved is subject to the US CLOUD Act, everyone is based in Germany or France with no US parent.
